The thing that I wrestle with a great deal of the time is us African American creators trying to create characters and analogous to what is presented in Mainstream comics.
We have a rich mythos that spans thousands of years and many different diasporas. Why is it that we feel we have to mine other cultures to the extent that we do.
I also think that as creators we believe that teaching means preaching which could not be further from the truth.
The black experience is very compelling and letting readers into that, as it relates to or juxtaposes other cultures can be done in very creative ways which lend themselves to the drama, and or comedy which is present in the comics medium.
